Nominations now open for the 2018 Conwy Sports Awards

The annual Conwy Sports Awards return on Friday 23rd November at Venue Cymru, Llandudno.

Designed to recognise and honour the talented sports people, clubs, coaches and volunteers from the county of Conwy. Those who show dedication to perform at the highest level or those who work tirelessly to support the individuals and clubs in their chosen sport

The Awards event was established in 1990 and has steadily grown over the years, out growing its original venue and moving to the North Wales Conference Centre in 1998 and then on to the main Venue Cymru arena in 2006.

Sporting starts who have attended the event over the years include Mark Hughes, Rupert Moon, Derek Redmond, Nicole Cook, Non Stanford and Steve Parry.

Sport Conwy is the voluntary forum for sports organisations in Conwy. The organisation is the only remaining local voluntary sports council in Wales. The Executive Committee work to promote sport, support talented athletes and ensure that clubs are fit for purpose. Members benefit from a number of services through their annual affiliation (£20). The talented athlete programme consists of the North Wales Gold Card offering free access to training facilities for those performing at a National level, whilst those at a Regional level can benefit from the Personal Development Grant – £250 and the Sports Injury Grant – £100. Sport Conwy also offers discounted coach education courses, in Safeguarding and Emergency First Aid. Conwy Community Chest supports good projects which create or improve sporting and physical activity opportunities. These activities must be additional to what is already in place and be a activities which are only feasible with the help of a grant. community chest is a Sport Wales initiative for community sport and physical activity. community chest supports any new projects that:

· Encourages more people to be active, more often

· Raises the standard of existing activities

· Encourages participation in sport and physical activity

· Encourages lifelong participation in sustainable activities

· Encourages partnerships with other agencies
