The Week end wind up
The Week we all did the Corona Hokey Cokey- again!
To be read whilst listening to Zoom by Fat Larry’s Band, because nobody deserves to be subjected to the party classic by Black Lace
With the kids back in school and life briefly taking on an air of normality, we had at Network She naively regrouped around a planned event, an Out Out event with no zoom link or an online presence. It all felt rather liberating and exciting!
Now admittedly this was Plan B.
Plan A was originally going to be the annual Network She Women Mean Business Conference that takes place every year on the last Friday of September. It has been booked and, in the diary, since we put the trimmings and trappings away on the night of last year’s conference.
We were all focused on 25th September 2020. The conference is THE big date in the Network She calendar, and it involves an audience of 200 plus delegates, with a walk on part for four key speakers and a dozen other expert panel guests. And of course, our very own pantomime dame- we don’t do boring at Network She! Photo of Widow Twankey
Once Covid 19 kicked in and it became obvious that things weren’t going to plan for the country, in fact for the world as a whole, and not just our tiny corner of it, we cancelled the Women Mean Business Conference venue, even though they continued to assure us that everything was alright and the fact it was being turned in to a field hospital had no bearing on our planned event. The reliably sourced rumours of a venue closure until March 2021, which have now been justified, were quashed as tittle tattle.
So, to Plan B, same date, venue option two.
The event was now a dedicated Network She Academy event for 30 and was transformed into a recognition and reward evening, laced with glamour and glitz.
When new socially distancing and group gathering rules changed, Plan C was put in place and a delicious lunch for 14 was now the order of the day, which in turn quickly became an unsocially distanced table for six. So, guess what- we are back on Zoom
We are now using the 25th September to get the Women who Mean Business together- not under one roof or dressed to the nines, but all in front of a screen with a large G&T as we plan WMBC 2021.
Now I can’t stop- I have to blow the dust off my dancing shoes and do the Corona Hokey Cokey after all isn’t that what it’s all about!
Love & Shenanigans
