Story:

Adventure Parc Snowdonia has announced that it will support the North Wales branch of UK charity Action for Children with the upcoming Winter Edition of its Waves Mud and Mountains race event.

The Adventure Parc has donated free entry places to Action for Children, which the charity will use to encourage fundraisers to enter and raise money in for its cause.

Action for Children, which supports children, young people and families across Wales and the UK, says that the funds raised through the race event will help them to protect and support more vulnerable children and families in need.

The Waves, Mud and Mountains race takes place on Saturday 23 November 2019. Competitors will take on a challenging obstacle course race set in the kind of terrain that the title suggests.

The first test for competitors will be running through 6 million gallons of powerful waves in Adventure Parc Snowdonia’s world-first inland surf lagoon. This will be followed up by a forest run to a mud-fuelled obstacle course, including log runs, combat nets and tyre pits. The grand finale is the infamous killer pipeline of pain – a run up the notoriously steep Dolgarrog water pipe steps. The course clocks in at 8 – 10k.

Justin Everley, commercial director for Adventure Parc Snowdonia said:

“Our course is challenging but a lot of fun and very rewarding – even more so for those competitors who use it as an opportunity to raise funds for local causes that they really care about. We know that the work Action for Children does in our community can be totally life-changing for the people they support, and we’re delighted to be able to help them raise vital funds with our event.”

Nikki Booth, the North Wales community fundraiser for Action for Children said:

“We are absolutely delighted to be chosen as the official charity partner for Adventure Parc Snowdonia’s upcoming Waves Mud and Mountains race event.  It’s a fantastic event that tests its competitors to the full and deserves its tough reputation.  We hope everyone enjoys competing at this tremendous venue and does their bit to support Action for Children.”

Wannabe runners who would like to register to take part in Waves, Mud and Mountains can do so online. Competitors who would like to apply for a pass from Action for Children should contact Nikki Booth on Nikki.Booth@actionforchildren.org.uk.

Everyone who takes part in the Waves Mud and Mountains event will get a chip timing, and an event finisher’s t-shirt. There will be prizes for fastest male, female and for teams of 4 and 6, and a post-event celebration in the Adventure Parc Snowdonia bar & kitchen, with a free beer or soft drink for all competitors.

Waves, Mud and Mountains is a free-to-watch event, and parking and entry to Adventure Parc Snowdonia is also free. Competitors who would like to stay over can book on-site glamping accommodation for £65 per pod (sleeps up to four people) per night.

Waves, Mud and Mountains is also sponsored by wetsuit brand Animal and supported by Conwy County Borough Council.
