Ready, Set, Prosecc-go!

This year’s Fizzy Friday 5K Fun Run, organised by Network She and Bella the Prosecco Van, saw 200 women register for the event, which took place on Friday 6th September in Llandudno, raising money for the Network She Foundation, to support women and girls in sport.

Once participants had registered at Dylan’s Restaurant, they made their way to the start line where David Evans, owner of Dylan’s set the women off on their way to their next fizz stop at the Llandudno Bay Hotel. The ladies then jogged, ran and walked back along the prom to The Imperial Hotel, before making their way up to the Kings Head Pub. They then returned to the sea front for their final fizz stop at the St. George’s Hotel before heading to the finish line outside Dylan’s Restaurant.

Participants could be seen along the promenade laughing and enjoying every moment of the event and celebrating as they crossed the finish line! They had travelled from across North Wales, the North West and even from the East Midlands to take part in Friday’s event!

The ladies behind the Fizzy Friday 5K Fun Run are Ruth Lloyd Williams and Melanie Lawton from Network She and Caroline Roberts from Bella the Prosecco Van, together they’ve been planning and organising this event since the beginning of the year.

We caught up with Ruth Lloyd Williams to find out how this year’s event compared to last year…

“This is the third year we’ve organised this event and with each year that passes it just gets better and better. The event is sold out weeks before the day itself and we have a waiting list of women wanting to take part. The laughter could be heard throughout the streets of Llandudno and the after party this year has been our best one yet!”

Caroline Roberts also added, “We’d also like to say a massive thank you to each person who volunteered to marshal at this year’s event. Without you, the event wouldn’t be possible, not only from a health and safety point of view but also the support you gave to each participant running past too!”

Once everyone had crossed the finish line it didn’t stop there either, as participants and volunteer marshals made their way to the after party hosted by Dylan’s restaurant, where they danced the night away!

Five Fizz stops and an after party where you can dance the night away in trainers, all whilst raising money for a charity, what more could you want! All that’s left to say is… roll on 2020!

Following on from this year’s successful event, the Network She Foundation are inviting applications for funding of up to £500 from Women’s sports teams, individual sportswomen and community sports groups. Please email your application to info@networkshe.co.uk
